The Guthrie County Department of Public Health is still distributing COVID-19 phase 1A vaccinations this week.

Director Jotham Arber says while they haven’t had any severe allergic reactions to require hospitalization or even opening a vial of epinephrine, they have noticed the minor reactions like arm pain have been slightly more intense in people who had tested positive for COVID-19.

Nonetheless, he encourages those still on the fence about getting the vaccine to do so as soon as possible once the vaccine is available for their group.

“This is one of the easiest and safest things they could do to begin to help the community get over COVID-19. We have not recorded any severe reactions. That doesn’t mean they couldn’t occur, but it tells us that people are tolerating this pretty well. I think that if we want to get back to near normal, we’re going to have to all partner in this. We’re all going to have to do our part by getting the vaccine and continuing to follow those public health recommendations while we’re vaccinating others.”
