The joint investigation between Stuart Police and Fire departments, and the State Fire Marshall’s Office of a November storage fire was closed in December without any criminal charges being filed.

Stuart Police Chief Dave Reha says he understands the community’s questions about the event.

“The community wants answers, and we understand that, so we try to get to the bottom of things as quickly as we can. It’s not so much that the investigation is necessarily over or completed; it’s just that at this point in the investigation, we’re considering it closed. Obviously, if there was some sort of information that were to come up at a later date, that case could be reopened. But, at this point, with the evidence we had and a mutual decision between us, the Fire Department and the Fire Marshal’s Office, we all came to the same conclusion that led us to [close the case].”

The investigation was closed December 18.
