The first week of Coronavirus vaccinations is now in the books for Guthrie County, and the Department of Public Health reported that 189 doses have been administered out of the first 400 doses.
Director Jotham Arber says there are 220 doses still available as more front-line healthcare workers will be vaccinated this week. Some vials of the Moderna vaccine had an additional half milliliter dose available.
With all county public health departments still in phase 1A of the vaccination process, Arber says his department is planning ahead and hopeful to move into the next phase.
“Our hope is that the state will allow us to move into 1B fairly soon because I think once we can do that, the other lists we’ve started to collect, the people 70 years and older, law enforcement, teachers. I don’t think we’ll have any problem getting shots to them. I think we would do well to vaccinate them as soon as possible as well.
Vaccination clinics will be held at the Health Department as well as Guthrie County Hospital throughout the week for those in the 1A priority group.
