Greene County New Opportunities continued to help those in need last fiscal year.
During the 2020 fiscal year, Greene County New Opportunities assisted 1,507 residents, making up 622 households. Of the over 1,500 people that seeked resources from New Opportunities, 163 were 65 and older and 578 were newborns to 17 year-olds. Of the 622 households, about 50-percent were 100-percent of the federal poverty level or more.
The programs that Greene County New Opportunities provides includes the Family Development Center in Jefferson, the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program, Utility Crisis Assistance, Head Start, Women, Infants and Children Special Supplemental Food Program; weatherization, financial literacy, substance abuse and problem gambling treatment, State Opioid Response, and substance abuse prevention.
