The holiday season can sometimes be a difficult time for people and it’s important to remember mental health tips this season.

The coronavirus pandemic may make things especially hard this year due to the increased isolation but ISU Extension and Outreach Human Sciences Specialist Outreach Cheryl Clark says it’s important to focus on ourselves.

“It’s really important that we take care of ourselves. Treat yourself with love and kindness like you might a friend. Be kind with yourself, give yourself some leeway. Recognize that you’re maybe feeling depressed, or sad, or lonely. The first step in dealing with those feelings is recognizing that we have them and we all have them.”

Clark says eating right and getting enough sleep while also trying to get outdoors when you can is a good way to take care of yourself and your mental state.
