Construction on the new Guthrie County Jail continues moving forward through the winter months.
Facilities Manager Brandon Thompson gave the County Board of Supervisors a report on the progress of the jail, including one change concerning the storm sewer.
“We’re going to reuse that. We’re not going to abandon it like previous specifications because it’s actually lower than the detention runoff.”
Restrooms at the Guthrie County Courthouse were impacted by the construction earlier this month due to the construction. However, Thompson says Elder Corporation, who is handling underground utilities, acted quickly to resolve the issue with the abandoned sewer line.
“They had to about-face pretty quick and say ‘We need to get you hooked back up.’ So, what they did was they tied back into the new line they ran after the pit, so we could have our sewer running without restrooms downstairs, but we were able to use the courtroom ones.”
Thompson was happy that the company took care of the problem right away, and said there’d be a change order submitted for the project accounting for both of the sewers, but it’s unsure how the credits and cost would balance out.
