There are two hunting seasons that are currently underway in Iowa.
Greene County Conservation Director Dan Towers says late muzzleloader and second archery seasons are December 21st through January 10th. He describes what the muzzleloader season is like.
“It’s more of a one-on-one type hunt too, people go out and either still hunt or sit in a stand. Those that didn’t fill their archery tags up through October and November, and into shotgun season, if they still have those archery tags, they’re still valid.”
Towers notes that for late muzzleloader season, hunters are required to wear at least a blaze orange vest, whereas for the second archery season, there is no such requirement.
