Throughout 2020 with the coronavirus pandemic, many aspects of life have changed but the Perry Area Food Pantry has persevered.

The pandemic has brought with it an increase in the number of people who need to use these services. Perry Area Food Pantry Manager Lou Hoger says changes were made to still allow access to help from the pantry by doing a curbside type service but that has since evolved again to what it is now.

“Then when the weather got too hot we moved inside so we invited the people to come in and I would take their order, again the order would go back into the pantry where the volunteers would fill the orders.”

Hoger says they keep track of the orders that come in and that has been their mode of operation. He adds that it might not allow customers to shop but he can indicate what items they have available and the process is quick.
