The Dallas County Board of Supervisors approved the extension of the Families First Coronavirus Response Policy at their regular meeting Tuesday.

The Board extended the policy until the end of the current fiscal year to June 30, 2021. The federal version of this policy is set to expire on December 31st but the Supervisors agreed this policy, which allows for the paying of wages for employees who are missing work due to themselves being ill or taking care of someone else who is ill from COVID-19, should remain available through the end of the fiscal year.

Dallas County has currently used around 5,700 hours of time to pay employees wages and roughly $138,000 under this policy so far.

The Board also approved the designation by an elected official for the deputy auditor, discussed the broadband steering committee, and set the Board of Supervisors assignments.
