A water main break over the weekend continues to hold parts of Panora under a boil advisory.
Mayor Pat Parker says it’s been a common theme for 2020 as part of the ongoing drought, but the City’s been doing a good job of handling water issues as they’ve occurred.
“Because of the dry year we’ve had, we’ve had a higher than normal amount of water leaks around town. A lot of service lines have started leaking, so our City staff has been working with a lot of homeowners on fixing those throughout the year, a lot more than normal that we’d deal with in a normal year. So, even with the pandemic, the COVID and the restrictions, we were still able to deal with that and make sure customers were getting taken care of in a timely manner.”
The Center for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that during a boil advisory to let water reach a rolling boil for a minute before use.
