The December portion of the Greene County high school wrestling season was short- just three dates in a five day span, but Coach Zach Beekman’s Rams ended on a hot streak going into the break for the holidays.

Greene County is 5-4 in dual meets after going 4-0 Saturday at Kuemper Catholic in Carroll to win the dual meet tournament title there. Three of the four wins were close with the Rams winning 36-34 vs Kuemper Catholic, 46-36 against Westwood (Sloan), and 39-36 vs. Manson-Northwest Webster. The other win Saturday was by a 51-18 final against Ft. Dodge St. Edmond.

The Rams didn’t wrestle at all until Dec. 15, when they went 1-2 at Iowa Falls, then were 0-2 in Nevada on Thursday night before the 4-0 showing Saturday. 2020 State Tournament runner-up McKinley Robbins has a 9-0 record at 120/126 lbs. without a close match yet. Nate Black at 152 lbs. is also 9-0. Brady Stauffer is 8-1 at 138 lbs., with John Sprague at 126/132, and Gavin Scheuermann at 145 lbs., both at 7-2.
