President-Elect Joe Biden recently announced his nominee for U.S. Secretary of Agriculture.

Tom Vilsack served as Secretary of Agriculture for eight years under President Barack Obama and Biden tabbed him to serve in that capacity again. Rippey farmer Tim Bardole and former President of the Iowa Soybean Association says while the current U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue was a good contact to get high level meetings whenever Iowa groups wanted, he believes the same was true and will remain true with Vilsack.

“Secretary Vilsack is a very good choice. In fact, I can’t think of anybody that would be a better choice for Iowa agriculture and this (new) administration than Secretary Vilsack.”

Vilsack will have a confirmation hearing through the Senate soon.
