West Marshall swept two Heart of Iowa Activities Conference varsity basketball games on Tuesday night from Greene County in State Center. The games were heard on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.

WM won 53-25 in the girls’ game. The Rams were without 5′ 10″ junior Brianna Habben due to an ankle injury. Habben had scored half of the Rams’ points in the first three games and averaged 11 rebounds per contest while shooting 61% from the floor. Greene County was down 19-7 at halftime and 40-18 at the end of the third quarter. Brianna Osterson scored 13 points and made three of the Rams goals from three-point range. No other Greene County player had more than five points as the Rams fell to 1-2 in the conference and 2-2 overall. WM (4-2, 1-1) had three players in double figures led by sophomore Katy Reyerson with 16 points.

The boys contest saw WM win 59-53 after leading 34-19 at halftime. The Rams closed to within two points in the fourth quarter, but could get no closer. The Trojans shot the ball far better than they did in their first four games and won for the first time in the conference and second overall. WM made seven three-pointers, six in the first half, and went 20 of 41 overall. They were 12 of 20 from the foul line. Greene County had 17 points from Bryce Stalder, 15 for Max Riley, and 10 for Zach Goff. The Rams were two of 15 from beyond the arc and 25 of 57 overall as they fell to 0-2 in conference play and 0-4 overall.
