The Guthrie County Board of Supervisors held its regular meeting Tuesday morning.

The meeting began with an update from County Conservation Director Brad Halterman. The Board formally recognized 20-year Conservation Board member Mike Labs, who passed away November 22.

The Supervisors discussed salary increases for elected officials for fiscal year 2021-22. The Compensation Board recommended a five-percent increase plus an additional $3,000 for each elected official to put the county closer to neighboring counties. No action was taken by the Board.

County Engineer Josh Sebern gave a department update. The Supervisors unanimously passed a resolution allowing Sebern to sign on their behalf concerning the department’s bridge project over the middle on County Road F63 otherwise known as 310th Street.

The Board discussed COVID-19 vaccination protocols with County Health Services Director Jotham Arber. Arber outlined the timeline for vaccination as well as his plan to have point-of-distribution locations in each community in the county.

County Sheriff Marty Arganbright introduced Matt Losee as the newest deputy hire. Losee will report to the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy at Camp Dodge January 4 and be certified in April. Losee has nine years experience as a detention officer in Des Moines.

The Board discussed payment invoices for the Samuel Group as well as Shive Hattery. They also approved a change order for the jail project’s missing footings for the amount of $1,365.

The Supervisors ended the meeting in a closed session to review the performance of Human Resources Director Pam Layne.
