While Main Street Guthrie Center cancelled their annual Reindeer Express event because of the state’s COVID-19 gathering restrictions, they have found another way to have some fun while encouraging the public to shop local this holiday season.

The organization is giving away a total of $1,000 in Chamber Bucks during their Shop Guthrie Center Giveaway. Main Street Director Dana Buster says every $25 someone spends at a downtown business will enter them to win one of 10 $100 Chamber Bucks prizes, “So there will be buckets at every retail location downtown where they can enter to win one of the $100 Chamber Bucks. And it can be, again, for if you buy a gift certificate for someone, we want to really try to encourage everyone to try to maybe gift a lot of certificates this year because it is so important that we shop downtown not only during the holiday season but after the holiday season.”

The Shop Guthrie Center Giveaway lasts from now through December 18th, and the public can also help support local businesses while filling their own stocking as the Chamber of Commerce is offering Chamber Bucks at a discounted rate for a limited time available at the Guthrie Center branches of Guthrie County State Bank and Peoples Bank.
