The drivers have been identified from Thursday morning’s collision on Interstate-80 between Adair and Casey.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, the crash happened at 4:17am at mile marker 80, between Adair and Casey. A 2013 Freightliner that was owned by Saleh Holdings, Incorporated and driven by 33-year-old Raphel Morris of Detroit, Michigan was traveling westbound on I-80 when a front tire blew out, causing him to lose control. The Freightliner then side-swiped the trailer of a 2020 Freightliner that was owned by K&B Transportation that was parked illegally on the shoulder of the roadway near a rest area.
The collision caused both vehicles to catch fire. Morris, along with the driver of the 2020 Freightliner, Andre Howard of Detroit, Michigan suffered minor injuries. Both Frieghtliners were considered to be total losses.
The Iowa State Patrol was assisted by Adair and Casey fire departments, Adair County Ambulance, Adair County Sheriff’s Office, Adair and Guthrie County Emergency Management and the Iowa Department of Transportation.
