The Dallas County Board of Supervisors hopes to take action on a new compensation plan for County employees during their regular meeting Tuesday.

Last week the Supervisors continued discussions on restructuring the compensation plan for County employees from an open-ended spectrum to a more consistent scale and range format. Depending on what scale the Supervisors could approve and how they implement it, the increased cost would range from $565,973 to $780,269 in additional salary expenses. The Supervisors will discuss and possibly take action on the compensation plan.

The Supervisors will also discuss the County’s death investigator position. In September, during an emergency medical services workshop, Dallas County EMS Director Mike Thomasson told the Supervisors he’s been working towards transitioning the County’s Medical Examiner Investigator position from an hourly and on-call role to an independent contractor. Currently, the MEI receives $25 a day to be on call and earns their hourly rate if they’re called in. Thomasson says it’s unreasonable to expect those in the position to leave their entire day open for $25 a day. Other items on the agenda include a Sheriff’s Office vehicle purchase request, snow removal bids, and an appointment to the planning and zoning commission.

The Supervisors will meet at 9 a.m. Tuesday in the Board of Supervisors room in Adel.
