Recent rainfall and milder temperatures have led to a decrease in drought conditions across the Raccoon Valley Radio-listening area.

According to the latest U.S. Drought Monitor, three-quarters of Greene County is still in a moderate drought, while the southeastern quarter is abnormally dry. The western two-thirds of Guthrie County is in a moderate drought, and the eastern third is abnormally dry. All of Dallas County is abnormally dry. 

All three counties have experienced higher than average precipitation this month. According to the National Weather Service as of Friday, Jefferson has seen 2.14-inches compared to the monthly average of 1.65-inches. Perry’s November total precipitation so far is 2.11-inches, and the monthly average is 1.73-inches. Guthrie County is slightly above its monthly average of 1.79, at 1.87-inches so far this month.
