Today marks just the second day of practice for the Greene County High School boys’ basketball team. The Rams weren’t allowed to begin practice until Nov. 25 due to the school district being on 100% virtual learning Nov. 16-24. They practiced Wednesday, then had yesterday off because of the Thanksgiving holiday.

Coach Chris Nelson’s Rams face Roland-Story (Story City) just one week from tonight in the new gym in Jefferson as part of a girl/boy doubleheader that can be heard on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com. The coach talks about how having so few practices before the first game will alter his plans. “Even with a normal schedule I feel we get a little rushed before that first game. Obviously, a little different now, so we’ll minimize what we’ll throw in early on. What we really want to focus on from an offensive and defensive standpoint, we’ll make sure we cover, we’ll really harp on those. And, just a lot of individual and small group work on skills so when we get in our offense we can do different things. We’ll have multiple options for scoring. Defensively, we’re going to really focus on our man early on, but we’ll keep adding to that as the year goes on.”

The coach said practice is scheduled for tomorrow, and Monday through Thursday next week before playing the Norsemen on Dec. 4.
