The Guthrie Center School Board discussed this year’s certified enrollment numbers at their regular meeting Monday.
Superintendent Dennis McClain stated that their enrollment numbers have declined significantly this year with 407.1 certified students and 460 served. It was also noted that the number of served students has decreased by 8.6% over five years. McClain attributed some of the decrease to the 14 students who moved to home schooling this year, and do not bring funding to the District unlike students who chose remote learning. McClain said he is hopeful about some of the homeschooled students returning due to communication he’s had with the parents. One positive McClain mentioned from this year’s certified enrollment is that they are seeing more students open enrolled into the District than out.
