Dean Lyons of Grand Junction talked with Raccoon Valley Radio about his return to coaching basketball at Greene County High School. The veteran has been the boys’ head coach and assistant at East Greene, a boys’ assistant at Pomeroy-Palmer and Paton-Churdan, the assistant coach, then head coach at Greene County, heading the program for the 2015-16, 2016-17, and 2017-18 seasons, for the last three seasons of his daughter Laurin’s high school career. He’s coach both sons, Brock and Aaron, and was an assistant to Aaron in the Perry boys’ program the two seasons prior to this one.

On returning to the court, he said, “You can’t get it out of your blood. I know there’s going to be some day there will be a Winter I won’t do it, but I’m not even close yet!”

The Rams were to have started boys’ basketball practice tomorrow, but due to the Greene County Schools going 100% virtual learning, rules dictate no practices or competitions can be held during that time. The Rams are now slated to start practicing on Wed., Nov. 25. Chris Nelson is the head coach, now in his fifth season here, and 15th overall.
