Eight months after the COVID-19 pandemic started in Iowa, Greene County has reported its first death.
Greene County Public Health Director Becky Wolf confirmed the death Friday afternoon, with the individual between the ages of 60-79 years-old. She extends her most sincere condolences to the family. She urges everyone to take COVID-19 seriously and work together to control the spread of the virus. As of Friday, Wolf says there were 380 active cases of the virus, compared to just 211 on November 8th. About 169 individuals have recovered and the County’s 14 day positivity rate was 25.9-percent.
Wolf reminds everyone of the symptoms of COVID-19, including fever, chills, muscle aches, headaches, sore throat, cough, runny nose, shortness of breath, stomach pain, loss of taste or smell, body fatigue, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. If you notice these symptoms, stay home and isolate yourself from others, and wait 48 hours after the symptoms first appear before being tested for COVID-19.
