A Guthrie Center woman was recently sentenced for an Adair County incident.
Court documents show that 21-year-old Payton Allyssa Hill was convicted of an amended charge of eluding a pursuing law enforcement vehicle, an aggravated misdemeanor; possession of marijuana-first offense and unlawful possession of a prescription drug, both serious misdemeanors. Hill was given a suspended two year prison sentence for the first count, ordered to serve 30 days and two days in the Adair County Jail for the second and third counts respectively with credit for time already served. Hill was placed on two years probation for each count to be served concurrently. She must pay $940 in fines with a 15% statutory surcharge, as well as court costs and restitution. Seven other counts were dismissed with court costs taxed to the defendant.
Hill was originally charged with a class D felony for eluding from an incident that occurred on May 23rd. An Adair County Sheriff’s Deputy attempted initiating a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by Hill south of Stuart when she increased speed and failed to stop while the deputy’s lights and sirens were activated. After Hill was eventually stopped she admitted to possessing marijuana, which was located, as well as a prescription medication that didn’t belong to her and drug paraphernalia.
