Greene County head football coach Caden Duncan prefers to deflect attention from himself, but he did talk with Raccoon Valley Radio about recently being named Class 2A District 9 Co-Coach of the Year, along with Mike McDermott of Atlantic. The Trojans won the district title and the Rams were second. Both teams advanced to the round of 16 in the 2A playoffs. Greene County was 7-3 after heavy graduation losses from a top eight team in 2019.

Coach Duncan said, “I don’t like to dwell on anything that’s personally about me, but it is nice to get that because all the coaches in the district vote on it, and it’s nice to know other coaches have some respect for you and must feel like you’re doing something right. It’s gratifying and give a little more reassurance for what we’re doing as a program right now.”

The high school football playoff semifinals are today, tomorrow, and Saturday inside the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls. South Central Calhoun (Lake City) and PCM (Monroe) are in the semis, in classes 1A and 2A, respectively. Those two, along with Atlantic, were the only teams to win games vs. Greene County in 2020.
