Movie theaters across Iowa continue to be impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, but a state program is helping provide some financial relief.

The Iowa Movie Theatre Relief Grant is part of the Iowa Small Business Relief Grant Program. The grants are designed to provide short-term financial relief to movie theaters to continue business operations for those impacted by the pandemic. To qualify to apply for grant funds, theaters must operate in Iowa and show films to all ages, were limited or restricted on or about March 17th with Governor Kim Reynolds’ Proclamation of Disaster Emergency was issued and have not been able to hold regular screenings since then, and applicants must be able to show a revenue loss in the 2020 calendar year as compared to 2019.

Grants funds are available up to $10,000 per movie screen. The deadline to apply is November 16th at 5pm to the Iowa Economic Development Authority. Click the link below for more information.
