Perry Library

The Perry Public Library is gearing up towards reopening its facilities to the public.

The library first closed in March at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. The closure continued as construction began on a remodeling project to feature new flooring, renovated bathrooms, and an Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) friendly entrance. The staff recently moved back into the building as the offices were completed. Perry City Administrator Sven Peterson says this project will cap off what’s been a productive year for the City, “This is a pretty special year. Between the library renovation and the McCreary Community Center renovation, we have two of Perry’s finest facilities with a facelift.”

Library Director Mary Murphy says the target completion date is the week of Thanksgiving. Murphy also emphasized that she’s staying up to date with the local COVID-19 numbers, which will be the determining factor in whether they will have a public celebration once the facility is ready.
