With Veteran’s Day around the corner, area residents should prepare for closures. 

In Perry, all City offices, the Water Works Department, and the McCreary Community Building will be closed Wednesday in observance of the holiday. Garbage services will remain on schedule. However, yard waste will not be picked up. Similarly, in Adel, all City offices and the Adel Public Library will be closed Wednesday. All Dallas County offices, including the courthouse and driver’s license station will be closed. Finally, all post offices throughout the County and most banking institutions will be closed. 

For the first time since 1988, the Perry Community School District will not be holding an in-person program to prioritize the community’s veterans and attendees’ health safety. Instead, the District is purchasing yard signs to hand out in honor of local veterans, TC&B Wearables in Perry is donating free armed services hats to veterans, there will be a Band of Brothers and Sisters video available online, and KDLS will be airing special public service announcements from community members, students, and veterans themselves.
