The Iowa High School football playoff quarterfinal round of games is tonight in all six classes. Greene County ended its 2020 season last Friday with a round of 16 loss in Monroe to top ranked Class 2A PCM, 42-0. Despite that loss, the Rams had a fine season at 7-3 and not all the highlights were on the field.
Head Coach Caden Duncan explains what it took in terms of following extra measures due to COVID-19. “It was a very strange year for everybody, obviously, and it kind of added another layer of stress for coaches and players. I was thinking back to when we started in July and the kids had to fill out an online survey every day. Temperatures had to be taken everyday, and even as we went through Fall camp we were still doing all of that including taking temperatures, and those measures continued once school began. There were so many added things that had to be at the front of your mind before you even started practices.”
Greene County teams made it through all the Fall sports seasons, which also included volleyball and cross-country.
Official practice for girls’ basketball in Iowa starts this Monday, Nov. 9 with boys’ winter sports practices officially starting Nov. 16.
