The unofficial results of the 2020 general election are in for Dallas County. 

The County’s two contested races leaned towards Republican incumbents. Mark Hanson beat Democratic challenger Larry Lyon by 13% for Board of Supervisor District 2. Republican incumbent Julia Helm beat out Democratic challenger Michael Kern by 23% for County Auditor. For State Senator District 10, Republican incumbent Jake Chapman received 14,957 votes while Democrat Warren Varley received 9,487. For the open Iowa House District 19 seat, Republican Carter Nordman received 12,578 votes while Democrat Nick Miller had 7,843. 

At the national level, Republican President Donald Trump received 27,882 votes while Democrat Joe Biden received 26,771. In the race for U.S. Representative District 3, Republican David Young received 27,794 votes and Democrat incumbent Cindy Axne received 25,273. For U.S. Senate Republican incumbent Joni Ernst received 28,614 votes and Democrat Theresa Greenfield had 25,333.

Dallas County’s results are unofficial until a canvassing by the Board of Supervisors at their November 10th meeting.
