It’s Heart of Iowa Activities Conference football programs Greene County and PCM squaring off tonight in Monroe in a round three playoff game. Football is played in districts in Iowa, so the two have not met on the gridiron, certainly not recently, and perhaps not ever. The Rams are 7-2 and winners of their last six games while the Mustangs are ranked number two in Class 2A, are 8-0 and are out scoring opponents by a 59-6 average score. Neither team has played an especially rugged schedule with PCM’s opponents at 19-40 and Greene County’s at 25-33.

The Rams have shut out victories over Red Oak (49-0) and Clarinda (24-0) in the first two rounds to get to the “Sweet 16” while PCM had a first round bye, then coasted past Saydel (Des Moines) 61-0. Tonight’s winner meets either Atlantic or West Marshall in the Nov. 6 quarterfinals. Those two play in State Center tonight.

Game time is 7 p.m. with coverage at 6:20 p.m. on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
