The third round of the Iowa high school football playoffs is tomorrow night and Greene County and PCM meet in a Class 2A contest in Monroe. It’s the second ranked and 8-0 Mustangs on their home artificial turf field hosting the unranked 7-2 Rams, who have won six games in a row.

Activities Director Todd Gordon acknowledged heavy graduation losses after the 2019 Rams went 9-2 and made it to the quarterfinal round of the 2A playoffs. He said it took playing time, but the Rams found their own identity. “I think when a team can do that, find what their strengths are, what their weaknesses are, and can coach to that, and can play to that, you kind of set yourself up for some very good success. I think they did that a few weeks ago. They kind of figured out who they are and what they can do and you’re just seeing them get better at that now and it’s exciting! Hats off to our coaches, and to our kids for being coachable. I’m really proud of them; proud of the team and proud of the coaches, and we hope to keep it going Friday night.”

Kickoff on KG98 and streaming on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com is set for 7 p.m. with coverage around 6:15 p.m.
