The Jefferson Public Library has changed its plans to their typical Halloween skit they traditionally have done every year.

Children’s Librarian Terry Clark tells Raccoon Valley Radio instead of having an in-person skit during the Trick-or-Treat Around the Square event, they are instead doing the performance virtually. The skit, “Little Chicken Little,” is based on the fairytale “Chicken Little” when an acorn fell on top of Chicken Little, the bird thought the sky was falling and told everyone about it.

Clark says the cast involves nine characters, played by community volunteers. It took them four times to record the over seven-minute skit from inside the Children’s Department. She points out that instead of having an in-person event at the library and hand out candy, that wasn’t a possibility due to COVID-19. Clark says they are making another video to show families how to make masks, scenery and bring other fairy tales to life in their own homes. She hopes this will give families fun and creative ideas during the winter months.
