State Auditor Rob Sand joined the Guthrie County Democrats Tuesday afternoon in Stuart to help spread the word to vote in the upcoming election.

Sand and the Early Vote Express Bus made their stop among a few Iowa communities at Lawbaugh Park where they handed out free yard signs, t-shirts, and other swag for Democratic candidates. Sand said that voters should focus not only on the presidential race but also those down the ticket, “I just think it’s important that we all go out there and vote for democracy. Frankly, we’ve never had a President of the United States before who has been unwilling to commit to a peaceful transfer of power. And I think that unwillingness to commit to that on Trump’s behalf is unamerican. I ran in part on nonpartisanship, I prosecuted Democrats and Republicans, I think you gotta try to focus on doing the right thing. But doing the right thing means if you lose you go away, and the fact that he’s not willing to commit to that means that we gotta send a message by turning out and voting for Joe Biden.”

State Senate candidate Warren Varley, State House candidate Ryan Morrison, and Guthrie County District 5 Supervisor candidate Eric Tiernan all volunteered at the Rally the Vote event, as well as former Iowa Agriculture Secretary nominee Tim Gannon. County Democrat Chair Kathy Miller was also on hand to officially accept voters’ absentee ballots.
