September unemployment continues to see major decreases in the Raccoon Valley Radio-listening area.

According to Iowa Workforce Development, Guthrie County saw the largest dip in unemployment from August to September of 1.6-percent, down to 3.9-percent. Greene County had a 1.3-percent drop in unemployment from August to September at 3.1-percent. Dallas County went from 4.3-percent unemployment in August to 3.1-percent in September, a 1.2-percent decrease. All three counties are still a far-cry away from where unemployment was this time last year. Iowa Workforce Development reports Guthrie County was at 2.1-percent, Greene County at 1.8-percent and Dallas County was at 1.6-percent unemployment in September of 2019. 

Iowa’s unemployment for last month was 4.7-percent and the national unemployment rate was 7.9-percent.
