Greene County had its best boys’ cross-country regular season in years in 2020, and Coach Jeff Lamoureux is already looking forward to 2021. The Rams had three senior boys on the team, but only one was on the varsity, meaning six of the top seven spots are eligible to return next season. Luis Velazco was the lone senior on varsity, and after a promising start to the season, he battled injuries and ran slower times than he would have liked down the stretch.

Junior Logan Woodruff led the Rams all season. He was 30th at the State Qualifying meet in Winterset last week in a very accomplished and experienced field of runners. Woodruff has a career best of 17:58 for the five kilometers (3.1 miles), and his coach said the junior has high goals for his senior season.

Also eligible to return in 2021 are juniors Jayden Carstenson, Ethan Larson, plus sophomores Dakota Mobley and Ethan Frederick, plus freshman Colby Angell, and others.

Greene County was in Class 3A for the postseason for 2020. The coach is hopeful the Rams could drop a class to 2A for next year.
