leaf-raking-2019

As leaves have started to follow in west-central Iowa, a leaf raking tradition for the Greene County School District has been altered due to COVID-19.

Teresa Green is the organizer of the Community Leaf Raking Project, which usually involves several high school students and adult volunteers, raking over 130 properties in each of the school district’s communities. However, because of COVID-19, Green says they are generating a new list of those needing their leaves raked. Those households that would qualify include those who can’t pay to have someone rake their leaves, and family and friends can’t rake them.

Homeowners can contact the high school by calling 515-386-2188 by October 21st to be added to the list. Green thanks everyone for their understanding of the changes to this needed service.
