The Jefferson City Council met Tuesday night in regular session.
The Council approved the second reading and then waived the third reading for an ordinance to reduce the speed limit from 45 to 35 miles-per-hour on Grimmell Road from Lincoln Way to U.S. Highway 30. The Council also approved the second reading and waived the third reading for an ordinance to allow off-road utility vehicles within City limits. Additionally, the Council approved a resolution for a contract for a $435,000 Community Development Block Grant through the Iowa Economic Development Authority for housing upper story conversion project as presented, as well as the donation of property from Greene County Development Corporation for the new Greene County Animal Facility in the west business park along north Highway 4.
City Attorney Bob Schwartzkopf announced his resignation as city attorney effective at the end of the year. The Council now must either appoint a new city attorney or go through an interview process to select the new individual.
