The Perry School Board discussed their Return to Learn Plan during their regular meeting Monday.
The meeting began with seven individuals speaking during the public forum. All the speakers plead the Board to increase face-covering requirements. Superintendent Clark Wicks says he’s appreciative of those who came out to voice their concerns, “It demonstrates that people have a passion for Perry schools. The other thing that I think was really neat to see was the way that everybody expressed their thoughts. It was organized, they were civil, they appreciated what the Board does, the Board was appreciative of their comments. It was all guided in the direction is what’s good for the kids.”
After discussion, the Board ultimately decided to table the Return to Learn plan to further discuss their options. The Board also approved the issuance of $10 million in school infrastructure sales, services, and use tax revenue bonds. This was the latest step taken towards a major renovation project at Perry Middle School. The Board is hopeful that they can have the project completed by the start of the 2021-22 school year. Other items approved by the Board include 28E agreements with Grandwood and Woodward Academy, sexual harassment procedures, and special education allowable growth.
