A Churdan man was recently sentenced for an incident that took place last Thanksgiving.
According to court documents, 34-year-old Justin Joe Downs pled guilty to a simple misdemeanor of domestic abuse assault. As per his plea agreement, Downs had his five-year prison sentence suspended and was ordered to serve two days in the Greene County Jail and was placed on probation for three years, to be served consecutively with another unrelated case where he pled guilty to an assault causing bodily injury or mental illness from this past May and had to serve five days in jail.
The domestic abuse assault charge was from an incident that took place last Thanksgiving. Downs entered a residence when he was told not to by the occupants and Downs was involved in an altercation with the victim.
As part of the plea agreement, there is a no contact order in place with the victim against Downs for one year and his fines and surcharges were also suspended. The felony for burglary and the serious misdemeanor for false imprisonment charges were also dismissed.
