Greene County’s first round Class 2A playoff game this Friday is a rematch of the Sept. 25 Class 2A District 9 football game when the Rams fell behind at Red Oak 14-0, then won 55-14. Coach Caden Duncan’s Rams are 5-2 and winners of four straight games, while the Tigers are 0-7 this season and they’ve lost 19 straight dating back to the 2018 season. All teams were eligible for the playoffs this year. Some teams have first round byes. It takes six victories in 2020 to be crowned State Champions.
Coach Duncan told Raccoon Valley Radio staying focusing and starting strong this time around against the Tigers will be emphasized in practice this week. He also talked about having a home playoff game. “We set that as a goal way back in the Spring before all this (the pandemic) hit. We thought that would really be something and we’ve set ourselves up where we could have a couple (home games) if we take care of business. It’s great to see the guys get to fulfill one of their goals and I know they take a lot of pride being able to play in front of their fans at Linduska (Field), so that’s going to be really cool to have a playoff atmosphere out there. We’re really proud of that.”
Friday’s game kicks off at 7 p.m. with coverage at 6 p.m. on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
