The Dallas County Board of Supervisors reviewed the County compensation plan during their regular meeting Tuesday.
For over an hour, the Supervisors discussed a proposed compensation restructure. The proposal would provide more structure to the current compensation plan while implementing pay increases to keep Dallas County competitive compared to other public entities. Supervisor Chair Kim Chapman questioned if implementing a new scale would provide value to the taxpayer. Chapman also expressed that he would like more data on how the proposed changes would compare to those in the private sector and how it stacks up to the income growth within Dallas County. Depending on what scale the Supervisors could approve and how they implement it, the increased cost would range from $565,973 to $780,269 in additional salary expenses. After the discussion, no action was taken on the topic.
The Supervisors also heard a secondary roads update from County Engineer Al Miller. Dallas County Emergency Management Coordinator A.J. Seely received the County’s new designation as a storm ready community from the National Weather Service. Finally, the Supervisors approved the final pay application for the wastewater treatment facility lagoon demolition project.
