Anyone who has an expired driver’s license still has a grace period to get those renewed before the end of the governor’s public health proclamation.
Greene County Treasurer Katlynn Mechaelsen tells Raccoon Valley Radio anyone who has an expired driver’s license since January has until October 18th to get it renewed. The extension was part of the governor’s most recent public health proclamation, due to the pandemic. However, Mechaelsen notes not to wait if you have an expired license that falls within the proclamation perimeters.
“We are booking appointments clear out until the end of October right now. So we would advise you, please, please give us a phone call if you have an expired driver’s license, we need to get you in there as soon as possible.”
Mechaelsen adds, vehicle registrations do not have any restrictions or extensions at this time and must be renewed within 30 days following your birth month. However, the Treasurer’s Office is taking appointments only at this time to renew driver’s licenses. Contact them at 515-386-5675 to schedule an appointment.
