Voters can cast an absentee ballot in person at the Guthrie County Courthouse beginning next Monday, October 5th.
County Auditor Dani Fink reminds voters that they must now bring a form of identification to request and submit an absentee ballot at the Auditor’s Office. Voters can still use their form of identification that has expired in 2020 at the polls and at the Auditor’s Office, as per a Secretary of State order that was approved by the Iowa Legislative Council on September 25th. Fink says they will also hold their absentee ballot polling station in the west entrance of the courthouse as they did for the primary election in an effort to protect against COVID-19, “It just worked out really well, it’s easier on our office, we don’t have that traffic coming through, but also it offered more privacy for the voters as well. And so I just think it just was an easy process and that entrance doesn’t get used regardless of COVID or not. So I think that’s something, yeah we’re going to keep utilizing moving forward.”
The Auditor’s Office is open from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, and will be open for absentee voting on the last two Saturdays leading up to the election on October 24th and 31st.
