Two new deaths associated with COVID-19 in Guthrie County have been announced Friday.

Guthrie County Public Health confirmed one individual was 48 years old with underlying medical conditions and the other was older than 80. These are the first COVID-19 deaths confirmed in Guthrie County since July, bringing their total to seven. Public Health Director Jotham Arber states that his department and other county partners want to extend their deepest condolences to the individuals’ families. Public Health along with Guthrie County Hospital and Clinics and Adair and Guthrie County Emergency Management continue to work to limit the spread and impact of COVID-19 in their communities.

All residents are recommended to wear cloth face coverings in public settings where social distancing measures and other hygiene practices are difficult to maintain, stay at least six feet away from others to limit exposure, anyone at high risk for more severe COVID-19 illness should continue to stay home, and for the public to stay home when even mildly ill. Residents should also cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue or your elbow or upper arm, and wash hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
