After months of remodeling, the McCreary Community Center is ready to reopen its doors.

According to Perry City Administrator Sven Peterson, the Community Center will reopen October 1st. The City is having a ribbon-cutting ceremony the day before on Wednesday, September 30th, at 4 p.m. One of the few bright spots amid the COVID-19 pandemic is the construction crews didn’t have to work around the building’s schedule and completed work nearly two months ahead of schedule. Peterson says it’s nice to have some good news to report during a year with so much adversity, “It has been a difficult summer with not only the pandemic, but then just as we’re starting to find some normalcy we had that derecho come through and take up basically all of our time for about a month and a half to clean that up. Now that they’re past that, we are able to focus on those brighter things going on in our community. It’s just really exciting to see our community growing in such a positive way. We’re definitely building some momentum.”

The McCreary Center will feature a 24-hour workout center, remodeled locker rooms, space for multi-purpose fitness studios, and a child watch area.
