The West Central Valley School Board gave final approval to policies relating to the COVID-19 pandemic at their regular meeting Wednesday.
The policies pertain to excused student absences, a request for remote learning form, school day, appropriate use of online learning platforms, district operation during public emergencies, and district operations during a public health emergency regulation. Board member Laura Weber questioned language about the district doing remote learning on snow days, which Co-Superintendent Anthony Lohse clarified that they don’t necessarily plan on doing remote learning those days, but the language is there in case they decide remote learning is necessary and all students would have a school issued-electronic device to do school work.
The Board also discussed but took no action regarding students’ fundraising for an Ireland trip planned for June 2021. Co-Superintendent Rusty Shockley told the Board that 12 students have been fundraising for the trip, with those funds being held by a third party travel company. If the trip is cancelled, Shockley explained that the funds would be returned to students as a voucher that they could use for future travel or sell to another student.
