Attractions for the whole family are planned for the second annual Jamaica Fall Fest this Saturday.
The event is sponsored by the Jazzin’ Up Jamaica Committee, Jamaica Supporters, ToJo’s restaurant, Just One More, Jamaica Public Library, Jamaica Lions Club, and the Jamaica Union Church. There will be free children’s activities, face painting, balloon animals, a 50/50 cash raffle, car and tractor shows, a free craft show, and more. Volunteer Carla Hilgenberg says that they have kept social distancing a priority when planning the event, and face masks are highly encouraged, “We really hesitated but we decided that we would do our best to make it a socially distanced event and that our community needed an event to help bring people together. So we’re trying to follow all the safeguards but still have a fun day, (and) help the community.”
The main event will take place from 1-5 p.m. on Main Street, and all proceeds from the event will go towards continued improvements at the City Park, as well as other community projects.
