The West Central Valley Wildcats have won their first game since 2018 on Friday Night, defeating the Eagle Grove Eagles by the score of 26-24.
The Wildcats were able to start the game strong, scoring in the first quarter to take a 6-0 led. Eagle Grove and WCV were both able to find the end zone in the second as the Wildcats were able to take a 14-8 lead going into the locker room. Both teams traded scores again but the Wildcats got a key two points conversion to take an eight point led in the fourth quarter. The Wildcats scored again and were able to fend off an Eagles attack to get the victory.
In a game that was about toughness, grittiness, and will to win, the Wildcats were able to make the plays going through the grinder to pull off the victory. For first year head football coach Jim Lindsay, this is his first victory in his career for the Wildcats, and a well deserved one for a program that is looking to turn things around.
WCV will enjoy their victory over the weekend before they get back to practice on Monday, and get prepared for next Friday when they start district play and take on Kuemper Catholic on the road.
