An annual Greene County event helped to put needed school items into the hands of less fortunate families.
Greene County New Opportunities Coordinator Teresa Lansman tells Raccoon Valley Radio 190 children were served during the Back to School Supply Drive. She notes the total number of children was down slightly this year due to COVID-19 and families not knowing if they were sending their kids back to school.
Lansman says over $1,000 was donated to the fundraiser, including a $500 donation from Jefferson Telecom. Additionally, the Salvation Army donated over 150 backpacks for the school-age kids. Lansman appreciates the help and support from the businesses and community members towards making this event another success.
