For the first time since construction on the new Dallas County Law Enforcement Center was completed, public tours will be available.
According to Dallas County Sheriff Chad Leonard, the public can tour the new facility Sunday, September 13th, from 2-8 p.m. Tours will begin every half hour throughout the afternoon. Leonard tells Raccoon Valley Radio he’s excited to close the book on this project, “There were some times where you’re like, ‘Is this ever going to end?’ Now you can see it, and it’s almost over. The biggest issue for us has been the jail and we haven’t moved that yet. That’ll be sometime during the month of September. So we’re looking forward to it, just looking forward to getting all our inmates under one roof again.”
Leonard says he had delayed holding public tours due to concerns of COVID-19. Sheriff Leonard is asking those who want tours to bring a face covering. The administration, patrol, and civil divisions moved into the new facility on August 3rd.
